VIDEO/PHOTOGRAPHS: Firefighters have this evening (Sunday 29th Dec 2013) attended a vehicle fire near Brading which had been engulfed by flames.

One appliance from Newport Fire Station was called to a lay by on Brading Down Road at 21:30 following reports of a vehicle well alight.

Upon arrival at the scene, fire crews discovered a Land Rover Freelander was engulfed in flames which was an insurance write off.

The road remained closed for around 20 minutes while the fire was extinguished as quickly and as safely as possible.
